Egyptian play Ana Carmen (I am Carmen), produced by the National Artistic Theater House, has won first prize in the International Women Monodrama Festival, which ended on Wednesday in El-Oued, Algeria.
Starring, written and directed by Sama Ibrahim, the show, which won big at the 2019 Cairo Monodrama Festival, is a poetic comedy show that adopts known musical melodies blended with composition from Egyptian Ayman Khayat and French Georges Bizet.
The play portrays the tragedy of every woman that looks for freedom and love no matter her cultural background.
Meanwhile, Cairo Days of Monodrama kicked off its third edition at Al-Hanager Theater in Cairo opera House on Saturday, where 16 plays from 15 countries are competing for its various prizes.
