Forsan Al-Sharq Heritage Company will participate in the upcoming Fujairah International Arts Festival, which takes place between 20 and 28 February in Fujaira, one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates.

Organised by the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, the festival’s third edition will be held in six major theatres and brings together 600 artists from 60 countries.

Forsan Al-Sharq ("The Knights of the Orient") dance troupe was established in 2009, on the initiative of Farouk Hosni, then minister of culture, with Esmat Yehia as its first artistic director, then Walid Aouni. The aim was to introduce Egyptian dance theatre performances that would revive gems of popular heritage, competing with troupes such as Lebanese Caracalla Dance Theatre.

Today, Forsan Al-Sharq operates under the joint supervision of the Cultural Development Fund and the Cairo Opera House.
