The head of the Cairo Opera House, Inas Abdel Dayem, has announced that the opera house will be closed for three days in mourning for Pope Shenounda III, who passed away on Saturday 17 March.

Events will resume next Wednesday.

The Actors' Syndicate and the Front for Creativity have also announced their mourning.
