Internationally registered as “Children’s Civilization and Creativity Centre", the museum situated in Cairo suburb of Heliopolis, has won its first international recognition, the Museum and Heritage 2012 International Award, even before it has been officially opened.
The names of the museum vary: architect Michael Mallinson calls it “Children of the Nile Museum” while Egyptians call it “Child Museum.”
“The award reflects the dedication of the museum clients, museum staff, project managers, local and international architects, engineers, designers and contractors, who have successfully completed an important cultural and educational project during a period of significant cultural change,” UK Museum and Heritage Awards Committee said in a statement.
