El-Raseef Festival in Maadi at 5pm
The pocket-sized publication promoting culture and social work, now comes in festival form bringing this two day event full of music, painting, art workshops, an open mic and booths with non-governmental organisations and artisans. Among the performers tonight will be Like Jelly, Baheya Band and Na'saf lel Ezaag (sorry to disturb).

Al Nour Wal Amal Orchestra at St. Joseph at 6pm
Operating under the artistic supervision of Ines Abdel-Daim, chairperson of the Cairo Opera House, and conducted and trained by Aly Osman, the orchestra consists of 38 blind musicians, mainly third generation graduates of Al-Nour Wal Amal Music Institute. This is one of the two concerts of Al Nour Wal Amal to take place within the week. More info here.

'Taste of Cherry' film screening at Sufi Bookstore at 7pm
This Iranian 1977 film by Abbas Kiarostami tells the story of a man's journey in search of someone to bury him under a cherry tree after he commits suicide.

Zeid and the Wings in Bibliotheca Alexandrina at 8pm
The Lebanese band established by Zeid Hemdan (of Soapkills) after touring Lebanon and Europe now come to Egypt for the first time bringing their electro-arabic music to the coastal city.

CirCairo Performances at El-Geneina Theater at 8pm

El Fan Midan in Abdeen Square at 5pm
The public art event is taking a political stance with the Syrian people and their struggle this month. The event will include music performances by Dina El-Wadidi and some Syrian musicians. There will be cinema, poetry, sculpture and exhibitions throughout the evening. Read more on the event here.

Beethoven and Schumann at the Cairo Opera House at 8pm
The Cairo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Hisham Gabr with soloist Moushira Issa, will perform Beethoven's Overture to Egmont Op. 84, Concerto No. 1 for Piano, and the Orchestra in C major Op. 15 as well as Schumann's Symphony No. 4 in D minor, Op. 120. More info here.

'The Virus is Spreading' by Ganzeer in Safarkhan Gallery
Ongoing till 1 November, the exhibition by Mohamed Fahmy (Ganzeer) brings the politically driven energy of the street to the exhibition space. Other Cairo artists contribute to the work hanging on the walls of the first floor adjacent. Each of their paintings stands alone but together they contribute to the spread of the "virus." Art therapy in Sufi Bookstore at 5pm
Shima Youssef and Dr Suzan Radwan, who were mentored in art therapy under one of the best art therapy practitioners in Egypt, the late Dr Magdi Refaat, offer people a space to explore their personality and feelings through painting. Children Gala in the Cairo Opera House at 8pm
The Cairo Opera Orchestra, conducted by Nayer Nagui, will perform Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns and Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev. The concert aims to introduce classical music to children through compositions admired by youngest listeners. More info here.
