I'm Nobody's Shadow by Marion and Ghazi (France-Tunisia) in Hotel Viennoise at 4pm and 6pm

Mixing shadow theatre and video art, this live performance is about a shadow being free from the body, encouraging reflection on newly acquired freedoms and its possible limitations. The performance is part of D-CAF's visual arts programme, curated by Medrar for Contemporary Art, and will be repeated on Saturday at 2pm and 4pm.

Autostrad band with Shaware'na band opening in El-Geneina Theatre at 8pm

Jordan's most popular band, stemming out of the underground scene, comes to Cairo after a long absence from the Egyptian scene to perform their fusion of Latin, reggae, funk and rock, discussing life in Amman, love, financial burdens and drug addiction through their three released albums. Opening for Autostrad is the Egyptian band Shaware'na from Alexandria, who discusses social issues in a comic manner. Read more on El-Geneina's programme here.

Le Prince Séquestré performance by Compagnie L’entreprise (France) and El-Warsha Troupe in Falaki Theatre at 8pm

A collaborative performance by Compagnie L’entreprise (France) and El-Warsha Troupe (Egypt), run by Hassan El-Geretly, brings together the two troupes to build bridges across cultures through their artworks. A performance 5 years in the making, it brings a clown, a character not familiar to Egyptians, as a symbol of incomprehension between the cultures.

Dina El-Wedidi and Emil Mathlouthi (Tunisia) in Qasr El-Nil Theatre at 10pm

For D-CAF's final music night, Qasr El-Nil theatre, re-opened after years, hosts rising Egyptian neo-folk musician Dina El-Wedidi along with Tunisian Emil Mathlouthi. Both musicians are associated with singing about the social transformation happening in their respective countries and with their music influenced by folkloric sounds. El-Wedidi mixes folk with rock and world music, while Mathlouthi's folkloric influence takes on an electro musical twist.

'5 Broken Cameras' screening in Sufi Bookstore at 7pm

The Oscar nominated documentary is directed by Palestinian Emad Burnat and Israeli Guy Davidi. The film is a firsthand account of an attack by Israeli soldiers on the residents of a West Bank village, who were practising non-violent resistance in the face of the expansion of Israeli settlements. The film's title refers to the number of cameras owned by Burnat, a resident of the village, that were broken by Israeli forces during the five years over which the film was shot. Read more here.

Cairo Opera Ballet Company performs to Egyptian composers' music at the Cairo Opera House at 8pm

Soloists of the Cairo Opera Ballet Company will give two performances to the music of Egyptian composers. Oriental Steps, a variety of dances, is composed by Attia Sharara while El Nile (The Nile) ballet is to the music by Omar Khairat. Cairo Opera Orchestra will be conducted by Sherif Mohie Eldin. Director of the two performances is late Abdel Moneim Kamel and artistic director Erminia Kamel. The same performance will also take place on 28, 29 April and 1, 2, 3 May.

Face the Vetrine installation in Mahmoud Bassiouny Shopfront all day

Visual artist Ganzeer and media artist Yasmine Elayat's come together to put forward this public shop front installation 'Face the Vetrine' is on display for 30 days, placing a face on the window which is digitally programmed to follow passerbys, opening conversations on privacy in public space.

Met Opera live transmission in the Cairo Opera House at 6pm

Metropolitan Opera HD live transmission of George Handel's Gulio Cesare. The Metropolitan Opera launched high definition transmissions of their operas in December 2006. The practice became very popular, gaining a total of almost one million viewers worldwide in its second season. In October 2010, Egypt joined the international network of Met Opera live transmissions, and was received with great appreciation amongst some Egyptian audiences. Gulio Cesare is the last transmission for the Egyptian audiences in this season.

Darwasha band in Darb 1718 at 8pm

Darwasha celebrate their one-year anniversary at this concert. The progressive rock band Darwasha mixes rock, metal and oriental sounds, creating a sound uniquely theirs. The band includes Mohamed Darwish on guitar, Ahmed El-Azazi on drums, Shady El-Husseiny on melodica, Mohamed Faisal on bass, Omar Zanaty on percussion and Ahmed Omran on oud.

White Rabbit, Red Rabbit in Falaki Theatre at 8pm

White Rabbit, Red Rabbit by Nassim Soleimanpour (Iran) will be performed in Arabic by Sayed Ragab. The performance is entirely improvised by the actor on stage as he only gets the screenplay in front of the audience. The performance is part of D-CAF festival, taking place between 4 and 28 April in a variety of venues in downtown Cairo. Check the festival's programme here .

D-CAF Closing Event in Falaki Theatre at 8pm

Make your Move, by SVALHOLM presents the results of the contemporary dance competition (Denmark-Egypt) along with performances by Chest by Nonne Svalholm and One by Ahmed El Gendy. This will be followed by screenings of the mobile films made during the Mobile Film Workshop and a closing reception of the festival.

InterLAB: Artificial Emotional Intelligence exhibition in Hotel Viennoise and Medrar for Contemporary Art from 5-10pm

This playful, interactive media arts exhibition is a collaboration between Medrar and Kazoosh, based in Dresden, Germany, as part of Open Lab Egypt, a community of media artists and tech enthusiasts experimenting with new media. Today marks the last day of the exhibition. Read more here.

Localité exhibition at 6 Contemporary Arts

Localité is an exhibition featuring works by Hanan El-Sheikh, Khaled Akl, Malak El-Shazly and Nihal Wahby. The group's paintings, at 6 Contemporary Arts in Cairo, spark questions about the relationships between the bustling urban cityscapes and the individuals who inhabit them.
