Thousands of football fans around the globe have criticised Argentina star Lionel Messi after he failed to shake a greeting boy's hand before the Bosnia game early on Monday.

Ahead of their World Cup opener that Argentine won 2-1, the world's most popular footballer, Barcelona forward Messi, caused controversy on the blogging sphere when he seemingly neglected a little kid who tried to shake his hand.

Some fans defended the striker insisting he didn't notice the child while others thought the move was intentional. Some also struck the classic comparison between him and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo.
