The Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) disciplinary board sanctioned on Wednesday Egyptian club Zamalek for the embarrassing pitch invasion of some of their fans during the African Champions League round 32 match against Tunisian Club Africain on 2 April.

CAF have issued Zamalek with a $80.000 fine and ordered them to play two continental matches behind closed doors, in front an empty stadium.

Zamalek were warned that the punishment can be further extended to four games without any fans and a one year suspension from participating in CAF competitions if similar offences occur again.

The disciplinary board, which met in Johannesburg on Tuesday,also decided to impose on Nigeria’s Enyimba a $20,000 fine for the pitch invasion and lack of security during its match with US Bitam.

Algeria’s MC Alger, Angola’s AS Aviacao, RD Congo’s ASV Club, Tunisia’s Club Africain Zimbabwe’s Dynamos, Nigeria’s Kano Pillars and Senegal national team were all hit with $5,000 fines for the violent behavior of their fans in recent matches.
