Roma's Malian midfielder Seydou Keita said on Sunday he is not optimistic over the injury he picked up during his country 2-0 win over Ethiopia in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.
The 34-year-old was replaced on 24 minutes after suffering a calf strain.
"I had already felt some pain in training as soon as I arrived in Ethiopia, so perhaps I could’ve dealt with the situation differently," Keita told malifootball.com.
"It was an important game, though, and I wanted to do my best for my country. It’s a calf problem and I doubt I’ll be able to play the next game with Mali or Roma.
"I hope it is nothing serious, as it would be a real shame to stop now."
The former Barcelona midfielder produced a string of fine displays with Roma this season, establishing himself as a regular starter under coach Rudi Garcia.
