Hull City's Egyptian winger Ahmed Elmohamady called on the Tigers to quickly put their Premier League defeat by Southampton behind them, saying the team performed well but were let down by some bad luck.

Hull slumped to a 1-0 loss to Southampton on Saturday, falling to the 14th place in the 20-team league table.

“We have to recover from last Saturday and get ready for the next game because it is a big one away at Burnley,” Elmohamady said on Hull's website.

“It was a disappointing result for is against Southampton.

“It was our third match in a row against one of the top teams in this division and Southampton are a really good side. They’ve won ten of their last 11 games.

“We played some really good football soon after their goal and had a couple of chances but sometimes you have days and results like we had on Saturday.

“How we respond is important now.”
