Egyptian duo Omneya Abdel Kawy and Raneem El-Welily will face world number one Nicol David of Malaysia and Alison Waters of England respectively in the semi-final of the World Championships taking place in Wadi Degla club in Egypt on Friday.

World number three El-Welily reached the World Championship semis after beating Nour Al-Tayeb 3-1 in the quarterfinals, while world number ten Abdel Kawy defeated Low Wern of Malaysia in the quarter-finals.

The 25-year-old El-Welily is bidding to reach her first world final on Friday as she failed to reach the final in the last two world championships.

Friday's game is the third game between Waters and El-Welily. Waters won the previous two games in 2003 and 2008.

Egypt's Abdel Kawy and seven times world champion David have met five times before in the World Championship, from 2003 to 2012, with David winning on each occasion.
