Ahly football director Wael Gomaa has criticised the players for losing their "winning mentality" after they suffered another defeat in the league.
"The players have lost their determination and even their desire to win. They must know that Ahly is not a team who just play beautiful football. But it is a team that competes for all titles," Gomaa told reporters after the match.
Ahly's hopes of equalling their own record of winning nine successive Egyptian Premier League titles in a row were dealt a serious blow after they lost 1-0 to fellow challengers ENPPI on Tuesday, their third defeat this season.
"This generation doesn't know this message. They suffer pressure as Ahly is always asked to continue its success," added Gomaa.
Ahly's loss allowed second-placed ENPPI to close to within three points of Zamalek, who are on top with 44 points.
"We must recover and we will keep fighting for the title until the last minute of the league," concluded the football director who also blamed refereeing decisions again for being against his team.
Ahly are third with 33 points but they have a game in hand over Zamalek, who are seeking to win their first league title since 2004.
