Nigerian striker Peter Ebimobowei was over the moon after marking his full debut with a goal that helped Ahly to a 3-1 victory over Ittihad El-Shorta in an exciting Egyptian Premier League on Saturday.
The 21-year-old made his first start after joining from Nigeria's Bayelsa United in the January transfer window, having made a substitute appearance in the team's 1-0 defeat by ENPPI last week.
He opened his account five minutes before the break as Ahly took a first-half lead against El-Shorta.
Midfielder Mahmoud Trezeguet was the architect, exchanging passes with debutante Moemen Zakareya to dart down the right and send a superb diagonal pass to the lurking Ebimobowei who made no mistake with a simple finish before screaming with joy.
"Scored my first Ahly goal in today's victory over Ittihad El-Shorta. Thanks to the fans & club for the support & encouragement!" Ebimobowei said on his Twitter feed after the match.
"I celebrated my first goal for Ahly with SHOKI dance from my country Nigeria!
Ebimobowei was substituted on 70 minutes after picking up a hamstring injury but he said he is hopeful he could play part in Ahly's upcoming league game against Wadi Degla on Wednesday.
Spanish coach Juan Garrido signed Ebimobowei to beef up his attack after the likes of Ethiopia's Saladin Said and Ahmed Abdel-Zaher failed to establish themselves.
