Egypt midfielder Saleh Gomaa has stated he preferred to play for Egyptian club Ahly rather than clubs in Europe.
"Ahly is stronger than many clubs in Europe," the 21-year-old midfielder told an Egyptian TV programme Tuesday.
The playmaker, who is on loan to Portuguese side Nacional from ENPPI, has revealed that he is close to joining Ahly this summer earlier.
"I could continue playing in Europe if I wanted to but Ahly will give me a better chance and its experience would allow me to return to Europe again for a bigger club in two years," he explained.
"My two-year loan from ENPPI to Nacional allows the Portuguese to sign me permanently for two million dollars but they don't have it currently," he revealed.
"I received European offers from clubs like SC de Braga and Vitoria Guimaraes but they weren't financially satisfying for me," Gomaa insisted.
Gomaa joined Nacional during the 2014 season on loan from Egyptian outfit ENPPI. He made 30 appearances, scoring two goals for the Portuguese side.
