Borussia Dortmund’s most recent signing, Ivan Persic, who ended the season as best player and top scorer of the Belgian top flight, will probably encourage Egyptian international Mohamed Zidan to leave the club this summer.
The 29-year-old striker was considering a move out of the Westfalenstadion after being relegated to the bench.
“With all due respect to the coach and to the excellent form of the team, I think I deserve a better chance. Since I’ve returned from injury I didn’t get that chance,” he was quoted as saying on Dubai Sports TV.
"I might not be with Dortmund next season; I don't want to waste another term on the bench," he added on Al-Hayat TV.
The Pharaohs striker had just recovered from a lengthy injury but couldn’t get bounce back in Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven.
Zidan played just 8 games, totalling 95 minutes of action.
The former Werder Bremen and Hamburg player has already been linked to a move to Egypt giants Ahly earlier this week after declarations of a board member saying that they would do anything in their power to sign him.
