Ahly's new signing, Gabon striker Malick Evouna, has revealed that he is happy to join a great team like Ahly as he hopes to lift trophies during the coming days.
The Cairo giants wrapped up the signing of Evouna from Morocco's Wydad Casablanca for $2.4m, one of biggest transfers in Egypt's football history.
The 22-year-old striker had announced that an agreement had been reached with Ahly last month. Only ten days later the Cairo giants confirmed that Evouna had joined on a three-year deal.
"Ahly know my qualifications, and I am happy to join the biggest team in Africa," Evouna told a television programme on Wednesday.
"I hope to meet the fans as well as the management expectations," he added.
Evouna, who finished as the Moroccan league top-scorer with 16 goals last season, becomes Ahly's second foreign signing in the summer transfer window after securing the services of Ghanaian hitman John Antwi.
The highly-rated Evouna, who made his international debut in 2012, has been at the centre of a transfer battle between Ahly and archrivals Zamalek but the Reds secured his signature.
"I was happy for the warm welcome by Ahly's fans at Cairo airport, I won't forget this scene, I thank Ahly's fans and I hope to lift trophies with the team," Evouna concluded.
