Egypt manager Hector Cuper says he can never please every Egyptian fan when it comes to calling up players for the national team squad.

After leaving out Ahly midfield duo Hossam Ghaly and Abdallah El-Saied, the Reds' fans questioned the Argentine tactician's squad selection ahead of Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Chad next month.

"Whatever I do, my squad selection will never please everyone," Cuper said in a press conference on Friday.

"I chose only those whom I believe are the best, and who are capable of implementing my philosophy as well."

"In any case, the upcoming match wwill reveal whether I was right or wrong in my squad selection, only then can everyone judge me," he added.

"Whenever I walk on the streets, fans come up to me demanding the inclusion of a certain player. I've been Egypt manager five months now and I know who should be named and who should be not.”

When directly asked about the omission of Ahly skipper Ghaly, the former Valencia boss reiterated his position.

"As for Ghaly's absence, I've been watching all the players over the past five months, and know well what I want for the upcoming game, Ghaly has no role now," Cuper said.

Another decision from Cuper that raised a few eyebrows was his selection of Zamalek right-footed natural centre-back Hamada Tolba, who has been switched to the left despite being criticised in his recent displays.

"The reason why I called up Hamada Tolba is his ability to play as either a full-back or a centre back."

Egypt kicked off their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 3-0 home win against Tanzania two months ago.

The 59-year-old boss, who steered Valencia to a UEFA Champions League runners-up spot two seasons in a row in the early 2000s, is burdened with ending seven-time African champions Egypt's absence from the Cup of Nations since last winning the title in 2010.
