Ahly will be looking to continue their winning start to their Egyptian Premier League game campaign when they visit Petrojet at Suez Stadium on Sunday.

Following a 1-0 opening victory over Talae El-Geish and another 2-0 win against Ghazl El-Mahalla, Ahly will be hoping to make it three wins out of three in their bid to reclaim a league title they lost to arch-rivals Zamalek last season.

On the other side, Petrojet – who used to give both Ahly and Zamalek some hard time during the past years – are not expected to be the weakest of opponents, especially at their home venue.

The petroleum side are currently coached by ex-Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan, who will be particularly keen to prove his credentials in front of a decorated Ahly side as he embarks on his maiden managerial career.

Hassan's managerial debut also came against Ahly, where he played from 2008 to 2011, when his Petrojet side slumped to a 3-1 home loss in the Egypt Cup semi-final last month.

Petrojet's 3-0 victory at Smouha couldn't have come at a better time just before the Ahly clash, as Hassan will be looking to take heart from the big win.

The Reds will also be eager to avoid another draw with Petrojet, as has been the case during the corresponding fixtures during the past two seasons.

But an inexplicable decision from Portuguese manger Jose Peseiro, who has been installed as Ahly boss in the close season, has seen him omit $2.4million-signing Malick Evouna.

When asked whether the exclusion was due to injury, football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz replied that the decision was down to technical reasons.

"No, Evouna is not injured," Abdel-Hafiz told reporters ahead of the game.

"His exclusion is upon manager Peseiro's tactical view."

Meanwhile, striker Amr Gamal and new-signing Ahmed El-Sheikh have made the squad after being left out of the 2-0 win ove Mahalla as they make up for the Gabon striker's absence.

Defender Rami Rabia continues to miss out through injury alongside right-back Bassem Ali.
