Continent heavyweights Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroun sealed a place in the final round of the African World Cup qualifiers after claiming positive results in the second leg of the second round on Tuesday.

Ghana defeated minnows Comoros 2-0 in Kumasi, thanks to goals from Mubarak Wakaso and Jordan Ayew on 17 and 87 minutes respectively. The first leg had ended in a 0-0 draw.

Nigeria eased past Swaziland 2-0 in Port Harcourt to also advance with a 2-0 aggregate win. Forward Simon Moses opened the scoring seven minutes after the break before Celtic's fullback Efe Ambrose added the second three minutes from time.

Cameroon were held to a goalless draw by Niger in Yaoundé. The Indomitable Lions won the first-leg 3-0 last Friday.

Earlier in the day, Congo and Libya reached the final round of the qualifiers after defeating Ethiopia and Rwanda respectively.

Congo who won the first-leg 4-3 away and claimed a 2-1 win at home while Libya defeated Rwanda 3-1 away to go through to the final round with a 4-1 aggregate win.
