Ahly will be seeking to overcome the latest league defeat against Smouha when they host Harras El-Hodoud in the competition on Tuesday.
The Cairo giants suffered a nightmarish night on Thursday with a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Smouha when defenders made recurrent blunders, conceding an early penalty and being hit twice on the counter attacks.
Ahly have punished their first team players with a LE50,000 fine each after the shocking loss that aroused the anger of club fans.
Tuesday's match was postponed for 24 hours after the Reds refused to play at Cairo's Petro Sport Stadium for technical reasons. The game will now take place at Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria, El-Hodoud's city.
Ahly are ninth in the league table with 9 points after five games; winning in three and losing two. El-Hodoud, who lost 2-0 to Zamalek last week, are second from bottom with 3 points from eight games.
Ahly are expected to have an easy test; facing a side who is still searching for a maiden league win after eight matches (losing in five and holding to a draw in the remaining three).
Ahly squad is ready
Ahly will be enjoying a full-strength squad against El-Hodoud, especially after the return of veteran midfielder Hossam Ashour from suspension.
Promising forward Ramadan Sobhi will also boost Ahly’s roster after missing the Smouha match for technical issues.
Ahly’s Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro has reportedly urged his players to set a new league start against El-Hodoud, aiming to restore the balance and continue the title’s campaign successfully.
Meanwhile, El-Hodoud coach Ahmed Ayoub believes that working as assistant coach for Ahly last season and knowing Ahly's week points will make his team’s mission easier on Tuesday.
