The board of Egypt's most popular club Ahly had a challenge to overturn a court ruling to dissolve it rejected on Sunday, leaving it with one last chance for survival

An Administrative Court upheld the original decision of dissolving Ahly's board of directors after accepting the proceedings of a lawsuit that nullified the 2014 elections, due to "procedural failure".

Led by chairman Mahmoud Taher, Ahly's board last chance of survival will be before Egypt's High Administrative Court on Wednesday when it decides whether to accept or reject the club's appeal.

The lawsuit, launched by two members of the club's general assembly, demanded the freezing of election results, claiming that elections were called in a meeting that did not reach the quorum for voting.

This could mark the first time for an Ahly board to be dissolved with a court ruling.

Ahly have been traditionally lauded for their administrative stability, cited by many as one of the main reasons for their huge success.

Taher has come under fire from the club's supporters after the team failed to win any major title last season.
