Ahly moved top of the Egyptian league table after strolling to a 3-1 home win over Arab Contractors at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium to make it four wins in a row.

Moemen Zakareya put Ahly in front in the first half following a blunder from the visitors' keeper, before Abdallah El-Saied scored from the spot to make it 2-0 in the 54th minute.

El-Saied, who played as a deep-lying midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 formation, then completed his personal brace on 73 minutes with a low strike from outside the area.

Contractors then reduced the arrears from the spot just one minute from regular time through ex-Ahly and Zamalek striker Sherif Ashraf in what was no more than a consolation goal.

The game witnessed a red card in stoppage time when Arab Conractors' Karim El-Deeb received his second booking.

Ahly, who battered lowly Ittihad El-Shorta 7-3 last week, have registered their fourth straight win since their goalless draw with Wadi Degla in December last year.

The Cairo giants are now in charge of the league table on 25 points but still have a game in hand, while Contractors remain 15th just one point off the relegation zone.

Zakareya opener

Shortly after Gabon striker Malick Evouna had headed wide from close range in the 10th minute, Zakareya gave his side the lead just four minutes later thanks to a goalkeeping error from Contractors' Hassan Shahin.

The Contractors' guardian spilled a right-wing corner from Ahly full-back Sabri Rahil into Zakareya's path and the Ahly winger pounced to smash home for the opening goal.

Summer-signing Evouna then again failed to hit the target with another header 10 minutes later, with this time keeper Shahin denying the burly frontman.

But it wasn't the end of wasted headers from Evouna, who again had to see another first-half header miss the target after the ball went high over the bar.

El-Saied brace, late red card

Ahly needed just nine minutes to double their lead in the second half after central playmaker Saleh Gomaa, who put in a superb display in last week's thrashing of Shorta, had been tripped inside the area.

El-Saied made no mistake from the spot to double his side's advantge against a team who did not look quite capable of mounting a comeback.

After Ahmed Fathi, who deputized for Hossam Ashour in the holding role, had seen a low strike go wide, it was just 10 minutes later when El-Saied completed his personal brace.

Gomaa, who dished out four assists against Shorta, was the one who set up El-Saied, whose powerful low strike from outside the box beat the keeper.

An otherwise quite game ended in late action though, with center-back Rami Rabia conceding a needless penalty against Contractors' Hamada El-Ghannam, as Ashraf scored his side's sole goal after converting from the spot.
