Ahly's in-form midfielder Saleh Gomaa will miss the team's upcoming clash against bitter rivals Ismaily in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday after sustaining an ankle injury during the 1-1 draw with Dakhleya on Thursday.

Gomaa, who joined Ahly from ENPPI in the summer after ending a Portuguese loan spell with Nacional, was substituted early in the second half after being roughly tackled by Dakhleya's defenders.

"Gomaa will not be able to play against Ismaily," read a statement on Ahly's official website on Friday.

Ahly's regular defensive midfielder Hossam Ashour will also not be available due to automatic suspension, having received his third yellow card in the Dakhleya game.

Skipper Hossam Ghaly is a major doubt for the clash against Ismaily after hurting a muscle.

"Ghaly will undergo medical tests on Saturday to determine the seriousness of his injury as well as his availability for the game against Ismaily," Ahly said.

Ahly, who failed to win a major trophy last season for the first time since 2004, remain second in the league table with 26 points. Ismaily are ninth on 18 points.
