Ismaily coach Khaled El-Qammash decided to field a youth team in Friday's Egyptian Premier League game against Maqassa after first-team players staged a strike and refused to take part in Wednesday's training session.
The players said they will not make themselves available unless the club pay them their financial dues, according to Egyptian reports.
El-Qammash waited for 25 minutes before cancelling the training session, deciding to call-up Ismaily's youngsters to feature against Maqassa.
Ismaily, who won the last of their three league titles in 2002, are third in the table with 45 points, 14 behind leaders Ahly. Maqassa are eighth with 39 points.
