Zamalek striker, Amr Zaki, who scored a brace of goals against Haras El-Hodoud in the Egypt Cup semifinal on Saturday, refused to celebrate reaching the final and asked supporters to wait until they lift the trophy before rejoicing.

“Coach Hassan Shehata did his best to build up the players’ performance physically and technically, so he is the main reason for booking a place in the final,” Zaki was quoted as saying on the club’s official site.

The 28-year old striker praised his young teammates for their performance in the semis and asked them to do the same in the final.

The Cairo giant’s goalkeeper Abdel-Wahid El-Sayed commended Shehata’s way of dealing with the team along with the players’ performance during the Haras El-Hodoud game.

“I was confident of reaching the final of the Egypt Cup,” the Zamalek shot stopper told the club website.

Zamalek booked their place in the final game against ENPPI on 11 October by beating Haras El-Hodoud 2-1.

Zamalek’s new signing, midfielder Ahmed Hassan, thanked the 64-year old tactician for his support and giving him more chances to perform well in the matches.

“Shehata is the main reason for my performance in the Egypt Cup games,” said the 36-year old midfielder in the post-match press conference.
