Ghana coach Avram Grant is not worried about his team's chances to reach the 2018 World Cup finals despite Friday's 1-1 draw with weaker rivals Uganda in the qualifiers' opener.

Ghana's Black Stars were strong candidates to win their Group E opener at Tamale Stadium, but the visitors were not an easy opponent.

"Even in the [2015] Afcon, we lost the opening game [to Senegal] but we qualified [from the group in the end]," the former Chelsea coach was quoted as saying by after the match, adding “we have five games to go."

"We have the quality to make it."

In June, Ghana were drawn in a tight group at the qualifiers' final round alongside Egypt, Congo and Uganda.

The scoreless draw comes in the best interests of Ghana’s Group E rivals Egypt, who will visit Congo on Sunday.

“Our group is a tough group, so there won’t be easy games," said Grant.

"They have got a point here, we can go there and beat them, it’s football," he concluded.
