Zamalek manager Mohamed Helmi has said his team missed many scoring chances in their 1-0 Egyptian League win against Petrosport on Tuesday, but remains optimistic about the Whites' showdown with Ahly later this month.
"We were playing against a tough and organised opponent. We played better in the second half, when the players started getting into sync," Helmi said in Tuesday's post-match press conference.
The victory took Zamalek to fifth place in the league on 25 points, 14 adrift of leaders Ahly who have played four games more.
"We don't care about Ahly. I trust Zamalek's players. We will play Ahly and the better [team] will win," he added.
Following a dull goalless draw against minnows Aswan last week, Zamalek were under pressure to get back to winning ways in order to reclaim a league title they lost to arch-rivals Ahly last season.
The two Cairo giants will meet in the final game of the league's first round on 29 December.
