Zamalek star Mahmoud 'Shikabala' Abdel-Razik has promised fans that the team will display a better performance in the upcoming games.
"Zamalek's humble performance lately is not the norm, especially with all the big names added on the squad by the board," the 31-year-old player told the club's official website Wednesday.
Zamalek were surprised with a 1-0 defeat on Wednesday against Sharqeya in the postponed game from match day 21 of the Egyptian Premier League.
"This is not Zamalek's football. I will demand that my teammates do their best and show fighting spirit," he added.
The Whites, who were also defeated 1-0 by Maqassa and Smouha in their last two league games, are now fourth on the league table with 40 points, 15 adrift of leaders Ahly and 11 behind second-placed Maqassa.
Following the resignation of coach Mohamed Helmy, Zamalek are currently led by care-taker coach Mohamed Salah until their new Portuguese coach Augusto Inacio arrives this weekend.
