The Egyptian Premier League derby between Ahly and Zamalek will be played on 17 July, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA)  said on Sunday.

"The derby match will be played on 17 July at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium, just one day before the league's final day," the EFA's competitions committee head Amer Hussein told Egyptian radio station Radio Hits.

Cairo rivals Ahly and Zamalek will be meeting on the 34th matchday (the last round) of the domestic league.

Zamalek lost 2-0 to the Reds in their previous league game on 29 December.

Defending champions Ahly are close to clinching their 39th league title as they currently lead the table with 74 points, 11 clear ahead of second-placed Maqassa with four matches remaining.

Zamalek lie third with 51 points.
