TP Mazembe opened their Confederation Cup group-stage campaign with victory after sealing a 2-0 home win over Gabon's Mounana on Saturday.
The Congolese side, who were eliminated from the Champions League round of 32 at the hands of Zimbabwe's CAPS United, needed goals from veteran Tresor Mputu and Rainford Kalaba either side of the interval to bag all three points in Group D.
Elsewhere in Rades, Tunisia's Club Africain also prevailed at home, beating Nigeria's Rangers United 3-1 in Group A.
The Tunisians went into the dressing room two up, courtesy of goals from Bilel Iffa and Oussama Darragi on 23 and 45 minutes respectively.
John Odumegwu narrowed the gap for Rangers nine minutes after the restart, before a 71st-minute own-goal from Joseph Douhadji made sure the hosts came up with all points.
In Group C, another home side to win was Angola's Recreativo who edged out Sudan's Hilal Obeid 1-0, courtesy of a 90th-minute goal from Mamadou Diawara.
South Africa's Platinum Stars, however, were the only hosts not to win - playing out a 1-1 draw with Algeria's MC Alger.
The visitors took the lead in as early as the sixth minute through Boudebouda Brahim before Katlego Khunou leveled the scoring two minutes from the break.
