Zamalek have completed the signing of Ghanaian striker Benjamin Acheampong from relegation-threatened Dakhleya, the Cairo giants announced on Friday.

The club said on their official Facebook page that they have been given a clearance by Dakhleya to land Acheampong, who has caught the eyes with a series of fine displays this season.

Zamalek also posted a picture of Acheampong signing the deal but did not specify the length of the contract nor the transfer fee.

However, Alexandria-based club Smouha threatened to take a legal action against the 26-year-old, arguing that he had signed a contract to join them before changing his mind.

Should Smouha’s claim be validated, Acheampong could be handed a lengthy ban.

Acheampong’s arrival will strengthen a Zamalek frontline that struggled for efficiency this season.

Bassem Morsi, their main striker who played a key role in helping them win the Egyptian Premier League title in 2015 after scoring 18 goals, could only find the net six times this season.

Acheampong scored 10 goals in 29 league appearances with Dakhleya, who lie third from bottom in the table with four matches remaining. He is Zamalek's first summer signing.
