Egyptian club Smouha have officially appointed Czech tactician Franz Straka as the club's new coach starting from next season.
"Straka signed the contract in France to take the club's charge in the coming season 2017/2018," Smouha's president Mohamed Farag Amer announced via his Facebook account early Saturday.
"The coach is set to start his mission with the team on Monday," he added.
The 59-year-old Straka had a previous spell in the Egyptian League as he took charge of Ismaily earlier this season before parting ways with the Dervishes amicably in April.
Under the guidance of the recently departed coach Momen Soliman, Smouha ended the Egyptian League season in the fifth place with 57 points, 27 behind champions Ahly. The team also appeared in the current edition of the African Confederation Cup but were eliminated from the group stage.
Straka's first test with the Alexandria-based club will be against Ahly in the Egypt Cup semifinals 9 August.
