Swimming: Egypt's El-Kamash misses FINA World Championship men's 200m freestyle final

Egyptian swimmer Marwan El-Kamash failed to reach the FINA World Championships’ men's 200m freestyle final after ending Monday's semifinal in 16th place, timing 1:47.41 m.

Earlier on Monday, El-Kamash won his Heat 5 timing 1:47.40 m setting a new national record to reach the semi final. He set his previous record at Rio timing 1:47.52 m.

El-Kamash finished 9th in the 400m freestyle on Sunday, timing 3:46.36 m to lower his national record of 3:47.43 m set at Rio too to miss out on the top eight men’s final.

In the women's contest, Egypt's Farida Osman failed to reach the 100m butterfly semi-final after coming in 17th on Sunday, where she timed 58.67 s.

On Tuesday, Egyptian swimmer Ahmed Akram will be competing in the 800m freestyle event.
