English Premier League club West Bromwich Alibon (WBA) have revised the one-year loan deal of their Egyptian Ahmed Hegazi to five-year deal ending in 2022, using an option in the player's loan deal with his home team Ahly.

"The Club decided to activate the option it retained on the World Cup-bound 26-year-old following his loan signing from Ahly in July," reads a statement in the United Kingdom's club published Monday.

[Hegazi] has shown 'impressive form in his debut Premier League season,' the club stated.

"This is great news for the Club - Ahmed has been absolutely terrific for me since I arrived and I am sure there is even more to come from him in the future," said coach Alan Pardew.

"He is one of the players we can build around on the road ahead. He has a big role to play and it is good for the player and the Club to remove any doubts and make the transfer permanent.

"I'm sure it is something the supporters will also welcome."

Hegazi expresses happiness for the permanent move

Hegazi was visibly excited at his signing ceremony ceremony on Sunday, brining his wife and two young children

"I am very happy with the Club and very happy to be part of this group of players," he said.

"I know the results are not what we would want at the moment. But there is great spirit here and I am sure that we will turn the results in our favour before long."

The club described 2017 as an exciting for the popular defender "who announced his arrival at the club by scoring the winning goal in the season's opening-day fixture against Bournemouth."

Hegazi helped his national team qualify to the World Cup after 28 years of absence inspiring them to finish as the runner-ups of the African Cup of Nations.

West Brom are winless in 16 league games and second bottom with 14 points after two wins, eight draws and eight defeats. They travel to 17th-placed Stoke City on Saturday.
