The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) held a press conference on Sunday in Cairo ahead of the upcoming 2017 Egypt Super Cup game between Ahly and Masry, which will take place in Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in the UAE’s Al-Ain City on 12 January 19:00 Cairo Local Time (GMT +2).
Alongside with an advertising agency and the two club chairmen, the Egyptian and Emirati FA officials expressed mutual gratitude, respect and support, as well as wishes that the event will be organised as successfully as its former edition.
"The Emirati FA has always been a support for us. We thank them for their kind and generous hospitality," stated the EFA chairman Hani Abu Rida.
"We're proud to host the third successive Egypt Super Cup in the UAE after the successful organising of the last two," stated Aref Al-Awani, the general secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
Ahly and Masry chairmen Mahmoud El-Khatib and Samir Heliba have also thanked the Gulf organisers, expressing respect to each other as opponents.
"We hope we play a good game to give an appropriate presentation of Egyptian football," Ahly coach Hossam El-Bady stated, adding that "playing in the third successive Super is a great honour."
Masry coach Hossam Hassan echoed Heliba, saying that "reaching the Super Cup is a big accomplishment for the club."
Ahly are the holders of the Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup titles, while Masry is the runner-up in the Egypt Cup.
The match will be attended by 25,000 spectators, with the ticketing process to be announced by the EFA soon.
