After winning the continent's coach of the year award by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in their annual ceremony in Accra late on Thursday, Egyptian national team coach Hector Cuper of Argentina has expressed his pleasure, promising to achieve more in the 2018 World Cup finals.

"I send this trophy for the Egyptian people as well as I thank them for giving me a chance of being here to get these great achievements," Cuper told a television programme after the award.

"I also thank the Egyptian national team's brilliant players who love their country, we all are happy with this award,"

Moreover, Egypt and Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah was also crowned African player of the year for 2017 and the Egyptian national team were named African national team of the year on Thursday in a ceremony in Accra.

"Salah's victory represents all Egyptian as we all represent our country," Cuper said.

"We can't ask more than these three awards, we are very happy for pleasing the Egyptian people,"

Cuper, who helped Egypt reach the 2017 African Cup of Nations final as well as ending a 28-year World Cup drought by reaching the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia, said he has the utmost confidence in his players' ability to go far at the World Cup.

"These awards will give the team more confidence so we have to keep calm as we didn't achieve something yet," the Argentinean coach said.

"We will go to World Cup with humility as we didn't achieve our target."

Egypt are drawn in Group A of the World Cup finals alongside hosts Russia, Uruguay and fellow Arab country Saudi Arabia.

The Pharaohs will kick off their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign against Uruguay 15 June. The tournament will be held from 14 June to 15 July 2018 in 11 Russian cities.
