Ahly's injured trio, defenders Saad Samir, Ali Maloul and midfielder Amr Soleya, are being prepared for the upcoming African Champions' League group stage battle against Kampala City of Uganda, which is set to take place on 15 May.

"A scan showed that Soleya has sustained a leg muscle strain during the Esperance game on Friday [in the kick-off of the group stage] and will undergo a special rehabilitation program to ensure his participation against Kampala," the club's doctor Khaled Mahmoud told the team's official website Monday morning.

"Samir and Maloul participated powerfully in Monday morning's training," the club stated after the injured duo were sidelined for the match against the Tunisians in Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium to avoid straining them before full recovery.

Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi has been confirmed to miss the upcoming game because of a calf strain that also sidelined him in the last game.

Ahly, the record holders with eight trophies, have only collected a single point -- the same as Esperance -- with both behind group leaders Botswana's Township Rollers, who defeated Kampala City FC 1-0 on Friday.

The Cairo giants, who clinched their last Champions League title in 2013, were close to winning the continental title last year but lost in the final 2-1 on aggregate to Moroccan side Wydad de Casablanca.

Ahly secured the Egyptian league title for the third time in a row last month with six matches to spare but have been eliminated from Egypt Cup quarterfinals.
