Zamalek club have announced the appointing of Swiss Christian Gross as their new head coach, assisted by a foreign technical staff, to lead the team in the upcoming season.

"Thanks to chairman of Saudi’s General Authority of Sport Turki Al-Sheikh for his financial support. He is funding the new coach file and promised to land a super player soon," the Cairo-based club chairman Mortada Mansour has stated to an Egyptian TV channel Monday confirming that Al-Sheikh is the anonymous investor of Pyramids club.

"Zamalek are in a partnership with Pyramids Club," he added.

Pyramids Club, previously known as Assioty Sports, are splashing cash after its renewal targeting star players and coaches.

Gross, 63, is the former Ahli Saudi FC manager since 2014 after a long experience in coaching European clubs since 1988, including Basel and Tottenham.

Zamalek, who changed many coaches in the last few seasons, won the Egypt Cup after finishing the Egyptian Premier League in the fourth place with 61 points, 27 behind winners Ahly, whom they will meet in the Super Cup.

The club are holding a press conference Tuesday noon to announce more details about the new tactician and the football team's future plans.
