Egyptian representatives in the Zayed Club Champions Cup, Ahly and Ismaily, reached the competition's round of 16 on Thursday at the expense of Nejmeh of Lebanon and Kuwaiti side Kuwait, respectively.

Ahly, who were held to a goalless draw by Nejmah at home in the first-leg of round of 32 in August, thrashed the lebanese side 4-1 in the second-leg.

Meanwhile, Ismaily's veteran keeper Essam El-Hadary, lifted his side in the same round to the round of 16 after he blocked two penalty kicks in shoot out to secure a 4-2 win for the dervishes.

In Lebanon, the Cairo giants dominated the game from its start, preventing the hosts from making any real threat during the full 90 minutes of the game.

The team's Tunisian fullback Ali Maaloul opened the scoring in the 25 th minute, while Moemen Zakareya added the second 11 minutes later to give his side the chance to go the locker room with a comfortable advantage.

Winger Walid Soliman made it 3-0 in the 63 rd minute and substitute forward Mohamed Sherif completed the rout in the 74th minute.

Hassan Mohamed scored the consolation goal for the hosts after sending a nice curling shot from a free kick in the dying minutes.

Meanwhile, The Suez-Canal Ismaily slumped to a 2-0 defeat by Kuwait, same result of the first-leg, as the game went to the penalties shoot-out, before El-Hadary came to the rescue.

Egyptian side Ittihad of Alexandria have already qualified for the competition's round of 16 at the expense of defending champions Esperance de Tunis.

Another Egyptian representative in the championship, Zamalek, will have a tough mission on Friday when they face Kuwaiti side Al-Qadisiya in Kuwait in the same qualifying round, as they were held to goalless draw at home by the Kuwaiti side in the first-leg in August.

The Zayed Club Champions Cup is the most financially rewarding in the region, with the champions awarded $6 million.
