Zamalek's Nigerian midfielder Maarouf Yussuf joined Iraqi side Al-Shorta on a one-season loan deal, the Cairo giants announced on Sunday.
Yussuf was transfer-listed by Zamalek in the summer after the club brought in Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi and Moroccan winger Hamid Ahadad to complete their quota of four foreign players. They already had Tunisian right-back Hamdi Nagguez and Congolese striker Kabongo Kasongo in their squad.
Yussuf joined Zamalek in the summer of 2014 from fellow Egyptian side Ittihad El-Shorta. He made 133 appearances with the White Knights in all competitions, scoring seven goals.
Zamalek stressed that the 25-year-old had signed a two-year contract extension with the club before moving to the Iraqi side.
