Ivory Coast skipper and Tottenham Hotspur right-back Serge Aurier slammed African governing body CAF for suggesting that Cameroon could host the 2021 African Nations Cup instead of his country.

CAF president Ahmad Ahmad said in an interview last week that Cameroon, which was stripped of the right to host next year's Nations Cup, will be offered the chance to stage the 2021 edition instead.

Ivory Coast would in turn host the 2023 Nations Cup, according to Ahmad.

"I am shocked with the CAF decision," Aurier told Canal+ on Tuesday.

"For me it is a maneuver. It is a political affair. As a player I want my country organise the Nations Cup in 2021."

The CAF is yet to pick the country which will replace Cameroon as hosts of next year's edition.
