After beating Algerian side JS Saoura in the final round of the CAF Champions League group stage and reaching the tournament's quarterfinals, Ahly coach Martin Lasarte has expressed his pleasure with the players' performance, promising to press forward in all tournaments.

Egypt's Ahly put on a commanding display to crush Algeria's JS Saoura 3-0 in Alexandria on Saturday and qualify for the African Champions League quarterfinals as they continue their bid towards their first title since 2013.

"We made use of the opponents' faults during the game that helped us to make more scoring chances," Lasarte told the post-game press conference.

"The coming games will be better and we will continue our way in the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Champions League, but after we finish the international break," he added.

"Some players miss the African experience, especially the young players like Mohamed Hani, Karim Nedvid, Naser Maher and Ramadan Sobhi, but their respective participation in the tournament will raise their experience," Lasarte said.

The Red Devils advanced to the last eight as Group D leaders with 10 points, with Simba snatching the second ticket with nine points after securing a late 2-1 comeback victory over Vita Club.

Ahly, who are second in the Egyptian Premier League teams' table with 51 points, will face leaders and archrivals Zamalek in the Cairo derby 30 March.
