The Confederation of African Football have sent a letter to the Egyptian Football Association requesting to move Ahly’s Champions League quarter-final and the Confederation Cup quarter-final featuring Zamalek from Borg El Arab Stadium to another venue, the EFA announced on Friday.
The pitch of the Alexandria-based stadium has looked to be in poor condition in the last two games of the group stages of both the African club competitions.
Egypt's Ahly will face Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the CAF Champions League quarter-final and Zamalek will take on Moroccan side Hassania Agadir in the same stage but in the Confederation Cup.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for the first half of April.
