Ahly midfielder Karim “Nedved” Walid underwent knee surgery early on Friday, while winger Walid Soliman and goalkeeper Sherif Ekrami returned to full training, the club's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz has said.
"Karim Nedved underwent knee surgery in Germany and he will start his rehab programme there before returning to Cairo," Abdel-Hafiz told an Egyptian television programme on Thursday evening.
"The team's defender Saad Samir will also extend his rehab programme in Germany for another week."
"Ahly playmaker Walid Soliman is fit to take part in the team's squad as he has returned to full training in the last few days," Abdel-Hafiz said.
"Goalkeeper Sherif Ekrami will gradually participate in the team's trainings starting from Saturday after recovering from a muscle injury that sidelined him for a long time," the Ahly football director added.
Ahly, who are second in the league table with 61 points, are preparing to face Talae Gaish in the 31st matchday of the tournament on Wednesday.
