Egyptian Premier league leaders Ahly are in a race with rivals Pyramids FC to sign Masry's star winger Islam Eissa in the summer transfer window, according to the coastal club vice president Mohamed El-Kholy.

The 23-year-old Eissa made a series of outstanding performances since the season's start, grabbing the attention of the league's top clubs.

"We have two offers from Ahly and Pyramids to sign Islam Eissa. The priority will be for the best offer at both the financial and technical levels," El-Kholy said in a press conference late on Friday.

"The final decision will be taken within a week, but if the offers don't meet our expectations the player will remain with us," he added.

Eissa, who joined Masry from second division side El-Nasr in January 2018, has scored seven goals in 28 league appearances with the Port-Said based club this season.

Holders Ahly currently lead the league table with 74 points from 32 matches with two matches to spare, while Pyramids FC comes second with 70 points from 34 matches. Masry lie fourth with 52 points from 34 matches.

Under the ownership of Saudi investor Turki Al-Sheikh, big spenders Pyramids (formerly known Assiouty Sport) were a real title contender till the final stages this season after building a strong team through signing a host of famous and talented players since last summer.

The Egyptian league is currently suspended due to the national team's participation in the African Cup of Nations, which is held in Egypt, and it will be resumed after the end of the prestigious African tournament.
