Ahly football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz announced on Friday that the Red devils met their goal after their ongoing preparatory camp taking place in Spain, which comes right before the continuation of Egyptian Premier League. Abdel-Hafiz also confirmed that international players will be joining the camp as well.
"We reached our goal from the preparatory camp in Spain seeing that the players are physically ready for the league resumption," Abdel-Hafiz was quoted saying on the club's official website on Friday.
"We made use of the two friendly games we played during the camp after the technical staff allowed more players to take part in the game," he added.
The Cairo giants have started their training camp taking place in Spain in order to prepare for the last two rounds of the Egyptian Premier League, which will resume after the end of the Africa Cup of Nations and the new season games.
The remaining games in the Egyptian Premier League, including an anticipated Cairo derby between Ahly and Zamalek, were pushed forward following the national team's exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.
"The International players will join the team's trainings on Saturday," the Ahly football director said.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said in a statement that the Ahly-Zamalek clash, initially scheduled for the final day of the season on 30 July, will take place at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium on 28 July.
Ahly and Zamalek are vying for the league title in one of the tightest races in years.
Ahly, who are eyeing a fourth straight league crown, top the table with 74 points and two matches remaining, six ahead of Zamalek who still have three games remaining, including the Cairo derby.
Egypt were knocked out of the Nations Cup on home turf in an embarrassing fashion, conceding a late goal to lose 1-0 to South Africa in the last 16.
