FIFA approved on Tuesday the appointment of Anwar Saleh as interim president of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) following the resignation of president Samir Zaher.
Zaher and members of the EFA resigned following the Port Said post-match disaster which left more than 70 dead and hundreds injured. Violence erupted when fans of Port Said club Masry invaded the pitch following a league match against Cairo-based Ahly.
Egypt's Supreme Council of Sports named Anwar Saleh as a caretaker after Zaher’s resignation.
The interim president will lead the EFA until elections, given a six-month target, are held.
