Smouha technical staff decided to suspend training for the foreseeable future during Wednesday's session held at their home statium in Alexandria.
“There is no obvious decision about when the league will resume, all the indications point to a cancelation,” Smouha coach Shawky Gharib told Ahram Online.
The Egyptian Premier League was suspended on 1 February after an Ahly and Masry league match in Port Said, when more than 74 football supporters died following clashes between the rival fan groups.
The Egyptian Football Association elected board, under the chairmanship of Samir Zaher, resigned following Egypt's worst football disaster. Anwar Saleh was appointed as a new chairman.
Saleh revealed recently that the national competition is unlikely to resume because of security concerns. However, the boards of the Cairo-based clubs Ahly and Zamalek, who met a few days after the disaster, agreed to resume playing after a 40-day mourning period.
