Tunisia's Esperance breaks Ahly's record unbeaten run in CAF Champions League

Egyptian giants Ahly are still bidding to reach the quarterfinals of the current African Champions League, resting in third place of Group B

After a 2-2 draw against Moroccan side Raja Casablanca late Saturday, Tunisian side Esperance has broken the record unbeaten run of Egyptian giants Ahly in the African Champions League.

Esperance has now played 20 games in the Champions League without defeat, breaking Ahly's unbeaten run of 19 matches. The Tunisian side lost their last game in the continental tournament against Ahly in the 2018 final.

Esperance has booked their place in the Champions League quarterfinals after leading Group D with 11 points, while Raja Casablanca also reached the same phase after placing as group runners-up with 8 points.

Egyptian giants Ahly are still bidding to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament. They are in third place of Group B with 7 points, two points behind leaders Etoile du Sahel, who share the same points with group runners-up Al-Hilal Omdurman.
