It's still not clear if Mohamed Salah will be part of Egypt's squad for the summer Olympic Games after his agent said on Wednesday that no decision has been made yet over his participation.

Egypt's U-23 coach Shawky Gharib made no secret of his desire to call up the Liverpool star as one of the team's three over-age players at the Tokyo Games, although he admitted it might be difficult, given Salah's club commitments.

By the time the Olympic Games kick off in late July, Liverpool will be busy preparing for the new season.

"No decision has been made yet," Salah's agent Ramy Abbas tweeted, in response to media reports that Egypt had confirmed their plans to name the 27-year-old in their Olympic squad.

Salah is enjoying another memorable season with Liverpool as they close in on their first Premier League title since 1990. He has netted 18 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions so far this season, including 14 in the elite domestic competition.

Egypt reached the Olympic Games after winning the U23 Nations Cup on home soil in November.

Salah was part of Egypt's squad on their previous Olympic Games participation in 2012, scoring three goals as the team qualified for the quarter-finals, where they lost 3-0 to Japan at the Old Trafford in Manchester.
